NAIDOC Week celebrations

We are excited to announce that Blackheath Public School will be celebrating NAIDOC Week on Thursday, 3 July. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn about and celebrate the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

On this special day, students are invited to wear mufti clothing in the colours of red, black, and yellow. In addition, we kindly ask that each student brings a gold coin donation, which will be donated to the Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation who aim to create a more inclusive Australia, unlocking potential through the power of literacy and learning.

We are thrilled to have Brewongle Environmental Education Centre joining us for the day. As a NSW Department of Education facility, Brewongle provides inspiring and authentic curriculum-based programs for all schools and students from K-6. They will facilitate a range of engaging Indigenous activities, including traditional Indigenous games and Ochre painting, allowing our students to immerse themselves in the rich cultural heritage.

Thank you for your support in making this celebration meaningful for our students. We look forward to a day filled with fun, learning, and community spirit!
