Book Parade

The Blackheath Public School Book Parade is a wonderful opportunity for students to celebrate their love of reading and literature. It encourages creativity and allows students to express their favourite characters from books through costumes.

Date and Time:

  • Date: Tuesday, 19th August
  • Time: The parade will commence at 1:55 PM. Please ensure that students arrive a bit earlier to prepare. Parents are welcome to attend.

Location:

  • The parade will take place at the back Basketball Court of Blackheath Public School.
  • In case of inclement weather, the event will be moved under the COLA (Covered Outdoor Learning Area) to ensure that the parade can proceed comfortably and safely.

Dress Code:

  • Mufti Day: Students are encouraged to wear mufti (casual clothes) to school on this day. This is an excellent chance for students to showcase their individual style.
  • Costume Parts: Students may also wear additional costume pieces that represent their favourite book characters. These items can be kept safely in the classroom until just before the parade starts. This allows students to change into their costumes without the risk of losing or damaging them during the school day.

Preparation Tips:

  • Costumes: Encourage students to think creatively about their costumes. They can draw inspiration from characters in their favourite books, ensuring that it aligns with the school's values and guidelines.
  • Safety: Remind students to wear comfortable shoes, please no open toed shoes or thongs.
  • Weather Considerations: Keep an eye on the weather forecast leading up to the event. If rain is predicted, students should be prepared for the parade to take place under the COLA.

The Book Parade is not only a fun event but also promotes literacy and encourages students to develop a passion for reading. Let’s make it a memorable day filled with excitement and creativity!
