For Your Information

Dear Parents and Carers,

Unfortunately, this letter has some sad news.

I am very sad to advise you that one of our beloved former staff members, and casual teacher, Megan Cliff, passed away unexpectedly.

On behalf of the school, I offer sincere condolences to Megan’s family, especially her two children, her mother, and her friends. We share your great loss.

Megan, along with her siblings, attended Blackheath Public School as a child and her children were also students at our school.

Megan, who had taught at our school for many years, was an exceptional, respected, caring educator, with a particular talent for working with special needs students. She knew every student she taught, aiming to extend their abilities and supporting them to develop their strengths and personal best.

Parents and carers appreciated Megan’s readiness to speak with them about their child’s education and the valuable feedback she provided. Her depth and breadth of knowledge, her personal approaches with each child was valued by all.

Megan was well liked by staff for so many reasons – she was genuine, hardworking, passionate and an advocate for all her students. She had a fantastically dry sense of humour and loved to share a good story.

As Megan’s passing will be felt deeply by our community, the school has organised extra counselling for students and staff, starting today and continuing as long as required.

As grief or other distress can take time to emerge or result in abnormal behaviour, please monitor your child for signs they may be upset by Megan’s passing and contact me about arranging support.

The school, in consultation with Megan’s family, will look to honour Megan’s memory, and I will keep you informed about this matter.

Thank you for your understanding and compassion at this difficult time.

Yours sincerely,

Kristin Hardge

Principal
